Flamborough RNLI are hosting their annual fun day on Sunday 27th August at South Landing in Flamborough. Alongside the annual fun day, long distance swimmer Tom Pagett will be completing what is believed to be the first recorded attempt to swim around the Headland from North Landing to South Landing to help the RNLI raise money to continue saving lives at sea.

Starting from around 10am, a safety boat will be following alongside Tom as he completes his challenge. Talking about the reasons behind his attempt, Tom said, ‘Having grown up in Bridlington, and taken up long distance swimming about 5 years ago, it’s an obvious route which has been on my mind for the last couple of years. After speaking to crewmembers at Flamborough RNLI and getting support for the attempt, it seemed a great idea to coincide the swim with the fun day. Hopefully it’s an opportunity to aid the fundraising effort, whilst maybe inspiring others to interact more with the sea, and therefore protect it.’

This year the fun day will start at 11am with many different activities going on throughout the day. There will be live entertainment from singer Joe Stevenson as well as a group of folk musicians. Activities will include face painting, mini digger competitions, the ‘chucky egg chuck’, a bouncy castle and hook-a-duck. There are also prizes galore to be won on the raffle, tombola and bottle stall with refreshments including a BBQ and cake stall.

There will also be a demonstration from Flamborough RNLI and a helicopter exercise with Coastguard Helicopter 912 (call outs permitting).
