Noise! – free music workshops continue with studio production

Young people in the Eastfield and Barrowcliff areas of Scarborough and in Whitby can learn about studio production in free workshops for 8-to-19-year-olds in April.

Noise! Is a series of free music workshops which invite young people to try something new. The monthly sessions include samba drumming, DJing, songwriting, singing and much more. They were made possible after a £30,000 sponsorship from Leopold 1760 in memory of Alex and Trevor.

The April sessions will be led by Lee Sutton, who was the guitarist with the Hull-based industrial band Systemyk which toured extensively across Europe in the late 2000s before returning to the studio with Lee as producer.

Lee says: “Since then I have produced many bands and acts in various genres including demos for Sony music UK. I am also currently writing and producing a new album which will be released later this year.”

Dates for the April workshops are:

The Hub, Eastfield (next to Pindar School): Saturday 1 April

The Gallows Close Centre, Barrowcliff: Saturday 8 April

Eskmouth Scout Hall, Whitby: Saturday 15 April

Workshop times for all three venues are:

10-11.30am: 8 to 11 years

Noon-1.30pm: 12 to 14 years

2-4pm: 15 to 19 years

The Noise! workshops in May will be held in the same venues on 6, 13 and 20 May, and will look at DJing with Dan Norton of Rebel Radics Soundsystem.
